FODMC Newsletter.

Welcome to the January newsletter.

Congratulations to Charles Hopkinson and Alan Jones for winning the Welsh Association of Motor Clubs Historic rally championship. Good results on the Nicky Grist, Woodpecker and Rallynuts Stages secured the championship for Charles on the four-round championship. This is all the more impressive as he has not contested a championship before. Their RS1800 Escort stayed reliable through out the season thanks to the expertise of Dave Jenkins Motorsport. Alan competed on all of the rounds having competed on the Mewla with Mike Simpson in a MK1 RS2000. The team will be attending the WAMC awards evening at the Metropole Hotel in Llandrindod Wells on Saturday, 29th January.

Luke Watts has acquired a new rally car to replace his reliable Toyota Yaris. The new car I am told is a gravel spec MG ZR. A good choice, of an often-underestimated competitive car. Luke is now assessing his options.

Congratulations to Ben Friend and Cliffy Simmonds on winning the British Historic Rally Championship.

The club has been asked to host an AutoSolo by the new WAMC championship.

A venue is being investigated. More news to follow.

We wish Phil Turley a speedy recovery, he unfortunately had a fall resulting in various broken bones. He has been in hospital for nearly four months now. He is hopeful of coming home soon.

The AGM will take place at the Orepool Inn on Wednesday 16th February starting at 7:30pm. You will also be able to renew your club membership and find out about upcoming events & news.

Dixes Challenge Sunday 1st May - Forresters Car Club and FODMC will be making plans for this event shortly, if you are interested in be part of the team please come along to the Orepool on the 16th February.
